Came across an excellent article on ARTNews today:
Fascinating piece on how Picasso’s heirs are – or aren’t – managing the process (and burden?) of authenticating Pablo Picasso’s works.
All sorts of family dramas run amuck here… These are people who otherwise may never have met, coming from different stages, and women, in Picasso’s life. They don’t all see eye-to-eye, or agree on what works should be authenticated, causing all manner of conundrums for the art auction houses seeking to authenticate and establish provenance for works coming on the market.
Adding intrigue the works surfacing as a result of Le Guennec and Bresnu. If you aren’t familiar with these stories, this article is a great primer for the uninitiated.
